Janieve joined the firm in November 2015 as an associate and in 2020 she was made partner in the Family Department.
Janieve is an LLB Graduate from Cardiff University who completed the Bar Professional Training Course at Cardiff University Law School in 2014. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in July that same year and was admitted as a Barrister of the Supreme Court of Gibraltar in June 2015.
She has extensive experience in all kinds of family and matrimonial matters and regularly appears before the Supreme Court of Gibraltar. She has experience in divorce proceedings, financial relief proceedings following divorce and separation as well as both private and public law proceedings relating to children. This includes residence, contact, maintenance, adoption and care proceedings. Janieve works closely with the Care Agency and has developed an excellent reputation with them. She works hard to assist families and couples and aims to find a pragmatic and swift resolution to her clients’ problems.
Janieve is also an experienced wills and probate practitioner. She regularly advises clients on the drafting of their wills and is regularly entrusted by her clients in the administration of estates and is regularly appointed as executrix of their estates.
Janieve has also developed her employment law practice and regularly advises both employers and employees in respect of compromise or settlement agreements and has represented them in unfair dismissal claims before the Employment Tribunal.
In addition to her civil practice, Janieve also takes instructions on criminal matters and advises on all aspects of criminal proceedings. Janieve regularly appears before the Magistrates’ Court and SupremeCourt of Gibraltar representing both adult and juveniles in criminal matters.
Janieve has also successfully completed the Interpersonal Mediation Practitioner’sCertificate and is an accredited Interpersonal Mediator able to provide such services in family, employment and other related disputes.
Janieve’s experience in law and sport has led to her being elected by the Gibraltar Football Association as one of four members of its first National Dispute Resolution Committee. She now regularly hears and deliberates on contractual disputes between the Gibraltar Football Association members.
She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
